Safeguarding Statement
New Horizons Church is committed to safeguarding as an integral part of the life and ministry of the church. Our trustees, staff and volunteers are committed to working together to build an environment and culture that is safe for all. We are committed to preventing abuse from occurring, protecting those that are at risk of being abused and responding well to those that have been abused. We work together with statutory and voluntary agencies if we need advice or are concerned.
We believe that the care and protection of children, young people and adults at risk is the responsibility of the whole church - the Trustees, leadership, volunteers and everyone associated with the church. We affirm that everyone who comes into contact with children, young people and adults at risk, has a role to play in safeguarding.
New Horizons Church will take appropriate steps to maintain a safer environment for all. We have put in place safeguarding policies and procedures and commit to applying them consistently across the whole church. Appropriate checks with the Disclosure and Barring Service are made for everyone working with children under the age of 18 and adults at risk. We also provide regular training to help our staff and volunteers recognise abuse and to promote the welfare of our children, young people and adults at risk.
If you are concerned that someone is at risk of, or is being abused, or presents a risk to others please email safeguarding@nhkc.uk or telephone (+44) 024 7667 8282 to request a call back from New Horizons’ Safeguarding Coordinator, Miss Yemi Badmus.
If necessary, make a report to the Local Authority Social Care Services or the Police (by calling 999) without delay.
